The prices for the updated Mazda3 with the SkyActiv-X engine have become knownMay 26, 2019
In the autumn of this year, a version of the Japanese car, which is equipped with a 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G, will go on sale. Such a car will cost 25 percent more than a similar model with an ordinary 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G engine.
Mazda has long been “teasing” us with its promising gasoline engine of the SkyActiv-X family, and it looks like the waiting time has already ended. Official representatives of the company report that Mazda3 customers in Japan will be able to order a similar car in the near future.
Already this fall, a four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine will be offered, which will be the most expensive for this model. This version of the Mazda3 will be 25% more expensive compared to the performance of this car, under the hood of which is the usual 2.0-liter engine of the SkyActiv-G family.
The Japanese version of the compact hatchback and sedan recently went on sale, and, although the SkyActiv-X engine will soon be available for order, Mazda still keeps its technical characteristics in secret. The foreign edition of Automotive News learned from the chief engineer Kota Beppu that the new engine will combine the best qualities of conventional SkyActiv-G gasoline engines and SkyActiv-D diesel engines. Then he called the new engine “top engine”, and we know that it was designed to work with a “soft hybrid” system to increase efficiency.
Speaking about this, it is expected that SkyActiv-X will bring a significant improvement in fuel economy by up to 30% compared with the same SkyActiv-G, and torque will increase by 10-20%. This is largely due to the fact that Mazda calls spark ignition with controlled ignition.
It is expected that the version of the engine that meets European standards, will produce 178 horsepower and 222 Nm of torque. Let’s not forget that SkyActiv-X is a four-row in-line, equipped with a supercharger and electrically controlled control of the valve timing with a high compression ratio of 16.0: 1.
