The Pininfarina Pura Vision SUV will appear in 2022April 23, 2020
The Hyundai Automobili Pininfarina Battista electric hypercar will set the stage for the electric SUV, due to be released in 2022.
The novelty from the Italian automaker will debut in conceptual form was to be presented as part of the Pebble Beach Elegance Competition, however, it was canceled. This became known just a few hours ago ..
The serial version of the Pura Vision concept will be hidden until its public debut in California, but Pininfarina revealed some information about the new product.
Paolo Dellaha, chief product officer for the Italian company, said his team’s goal was to identify a new segment. He called the Pura Vision a luxury car (SLUV). The concept is not a hardcore SUV. Rather, it is a wide four-door model, characterized by a long hood, short overhangs, a steeply arched windshield, and a wide roof made entirely of glass. These lines form a vehicle that resembles a traditional Italian grand tourer.
Its designers tried to bridge the gap between the Lamborghini Urus and the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo. Specialists paid special attention to the muscular design and performance of the Italian SUV, but it would seem that they cared little about its general proportions. At the same time, chief designer Luca Borgogno said that the inspiration for the long hood came from Cisitalia 202 of 1947, and the glass roof draws a parallel between it and the 1953 Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 Superflow concept. Both models were developed by Carrozzeria Pininfarina.
It is noted that many solutions of the concept car will be transferred to the production model. Even the glass roof will remain. The panel reflects sunlight to maintain the internal temperature in the summer and is mounted on an aluminum frame that protects passengers in the event of a rollover.
Under the hood, an electric power plant of 1000 hp will be hidden, built into a new platform that was developed on its own with the help of unnamed partners. Pininfarina planned to use Rivian architecture, but retail giant Amazon suddenly stopped working when it became an investor in an American startup.
Pininfarina plans to build 150 copies of the Battista hypercar, each of which will cost 1.7 million pounds. The SUV will be much less exclusive, as its cost will be about 300,000 euros. Its main competitor will be the Ferrari Purosangue, which is also due to appear on the market in 2022.
