The official debut of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black SeriesJuly 15, 2020
Mercedes-Benz showcased the AMG GT Black Series.
Described as a super sports car, “perfectly embodying the brand’s tradition in motorsport,” the model is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a capacity of 720 hp. (800 Nm of torque).
The engine received new camshafts, various exhaust manifolds and a dry crankcase lubrication system, large turbocharger compressor wheels and a very loud sound. Together with the unit operates a 7-speed transmission with two clutches. This bunch allows the car to accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds at a maximum speed of 325 km / h.
Like the AMG GT R, the novelty has a coil suspension and an adaptive damping system, as well as adjustable anti-roll bars and an adjustable camber. The car also has carbon fiber shift panels, a lightweight integrated carrier and a carbon fiber tunnel spider for stiffness. The model was equipped with a ceramic brake system with motorsports pads and discs.
As for the design of the GT Black Series, in front it resembles the racing cars GT3 and GT4. So, the car received an aggressive front part with a large grille, a splitter and canards made of carbon fiber.
The novelty, in particular, was equipped with a carbon fiber hood with an air intake and large ventilation openings, a roof, side skirts and a carbon fiber tailgate. The latter boasts a small spoiler and a two-section rear wing also made of carbon fiber, which can be adjusted manually or automatically.
Other notable details are the carbon fiber rear bumper and four exhaust pipes, which are separated by a large diffuser. The car got 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
The GT Black Series generates over 882 pounds (400 kg) of downforce at 155 mph (250 km / h). Therefore, we should expect weight loss, while the German company did not disclose information about this.
Changes in the interior are less noticeable, but the model received carbon fiber sports seats trimmed with Nappa leather and microfiber upholstery. In addition, you can see the contrasting orange stitching and matte black carbon fiber finish. In addition, the car was equipped with a microfiber sports steering wheel and lightweight door panels.
Customers who want something even more unique can order the optional AMG Track package. It adds four-point seat belts, a fire extinguisher and a lightweight titanium frame. Moreover, this kit will be available in some markets.
The most remarkable detail of the interior is the small handle known as AMG Traction Control. It provides a choice of nine riding modes.
The cost of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series German company is still a secret.
