The next-generation Porsche Macan will be completely electric

The supervisory board of Porsche AG decided to convert the Macan crossover to electric traction. The model of the next generation will be produced only with an electric power plant at the production site of the company in Leipzig. The market debut of the first Porsche electric crossover is scheduled for early next decade.
Like the Taycan, the new Macan will be built on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, developed jointly with Audi. She also will form the basis of the cross-universal Taycan Cross Turismo and a number of models from Ingolstadt. The platform is a mix of high-strength steel, aluminum, and polymer composites with a battery module and a 800-volt charging system integrated into the power structure.
The Porsche board of directors intends to invest more than six billion euros in electromobility and the modernization of production lines by 2022, so that by the 2025, 50 percent of the line will be electric. The next ten years in Porsche want to devote to the improvement of gasoline engines, plug hybrids and electric power plants.
In February of this year, Porsche published an official message, in which it stated that it had ceased production of the latest diesel models: Macan S Diesel and Panamera 4S Diesel. Diesel cars were not important for the company, the brand refused to new investments in the development of such units and doubled the amount allocated for the electrification of the model range.
