The next electric Audi e-tron GT will be faster than the Tesla Model SOctober 19, 2018
Audi e-tron GT will be built on the Porsche Taycan platform
The electric four-door grand touring of the Audi e-tron GT, which is scheduled to debut in 2020, will be faster and more powerful than the top-end Tesla Model S. In addition, the model “will receive a piece of Porsche DNA.”
According to Autocar, the presentation of the Audi e-tron GT, but for now as a concept, should be held at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. The electric car will be built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform, which also forms the basis of the Porsche Taycan. The platform is a mix of high-strength steel, aluminum and polymer composites with a battery module integrated into the power structure and a low center of gravity.
Despite the increased power, the e-tron GT mileage per charge will be identical to that of the e-tron crossover – 400 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. The four-door one will get the support of a 350-kilowatt charge and will be able to fill the battery up to 80 percent in 12 minutes.
Audi’s first electric car, the e-tron crossover, debuted in September. SUV is equipped with two electric motors with a total power of 360 horsepower and 561 Nm of torque. In overboost mode, allowing for eight seconds to increase power, the return is 408 hp and 660 Nm of torque. The claimed acceleration time to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) is 5.5 seconds.
