The new Toyota crossover will be cheaper than the RAV4 and C-HRSeptember 23, 2019
Toyota is preparing to conquer the young audience with a compact, inexpensive crossover that it lacked.
The segment of urban B-class crossovers is growing rapidly. Buyers no longer want to ride boring hatchbacks, preferring to vibrate other hatchbacks that look like SUVs. Toyota also wants such a model.
Of course, for this there is already a Toyota C-HR. But, despite the popularity, the car focuses on a different audience, so you should come up with a cheaper crossover. It will turn out to be an unnamed model for now.
It is known that this car will be developed together with a subsidiary of Daihatsu. The basis, most likely, will be the Daihatsu DN Trec concept (pictured) and, to be honest, we see no reason for the serial crossover to fundamentally differ from this prototype.
Of course, the interior will turn out to be less futuristic, but the body was definitely created with a backlog for mass production. It is assumed that the new Toyota crossover (like Daihatsu) will be installed on the GA-B platform – a compact version of TNGA, in which all modern models of the brand like Toyota Corolla, Camry and Toyota RAV4 are built.
Theoretically, you can speculate about an all-wheel drive transmission, but such revelations are hardly expected to reduce the price and simplify the design in a budget car. The engine range is expected to include 1.5 and even 1.8 as part of a hybrid power plant.
The first market is Brazil, where production will begin. But the company plans to have a car in other countries, but there is no exact information yet. Cheap crossover Toyota will appear by 2021.
