The new Smart SUV may appear in 2022
May 14, 2020Together with its new Chinese partners, Geely, the parent company of Volvo, which acquired 50% of the Smart brand earlier this year, Daimler seems to have been developing a new car that will join the new ForTwo and ForFour.
There is no detailed information about the new Smart model yet, so we will have to wait and see if it will be a “charged” version of the new ForFour or the new one will get a different design. Foreign experts are more inclined to the second option, but they are absolutely sure that the model will share the platforms with the new ForTwo and ForFour. It is assumed that the car will be assembled in China, from where it will be exported to world markets.
Speaking about the Smart brand with the British edition, Mercedes Research and Development Manager Marcus Schäfer said: “Working with Geely, we have access to larger scale, Geely know-how and close cooperation with Volvo.” He also explained that “we have the genes of the brand, with engineering and design power we have a good start. As for the product, I would say “stay tuned.”
It is possible that the future novelty of Smart will be an electric SUV. However, we can only follow the news of the brand.
