The new Shelby GT500 gets active brake cooling.January 9, 2019
Less than a week is left before the official presentation of the brand new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. We are already looking forward to a long-awaited presentation. A couple of minutes ago, a reader of a well-known foreign editorial office published several potential applications that could give some clues as to what we can expect from a car.
We are obliged to inform you that these patent applications are for the most part assumptions, there is no confirmation that they belong to the Shelby GT500 of a new generation. In some of them it is even difficult to recognize the American sports coupe.
The overwhelming majority of these “patents” show the details of the body that are needed to increase the overall aerodynamic characteristics of a car or to cool its various components and assemblies.
One of these images shows the air ducts that will cool the brake system. Flows can be directed to different wheels for optimal cooling. There is also an image of the active aerodynamic shield, located under the bottom of the car. It is needed in order to direct the air to increase downforce and overall fuel economy.
Among the published patents, there is an active hood ventilation system as well as a side splitter. It demonstrates both front and side splitter – features that we definitely expect to see on the new GT500.
