The new Porsche 718 caught photoshootersAugust 16, 2018
Porsche is testing a new version of the 718 Boxster Spyder for so long that we are already really tired of waiting for the official presentation of this car. This time, the test prototype of the roadster seen dropped most of its camouflage.
Published “spy” images of the new Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder, which appeared at the disposal of our car edition a couple of hours ago, give the opportunity to view the car in much more detail than before – because most of the disguise is missing. From prying eyes are closed only LED lights, well, branded black ribbons are found all over the body. It is reported that the roadster was captured on the German race track Nürburgring.
The prototype of a high-performance version of the German novelty received a red roof, an elegant rear spoiler, two exhaust pipes. It seems that the car is slightly closer to the road compared to the current 718 Boxster GTS – understated suspension. You can also notice that there is a horizontal bar at the top of the front bumper. And the hood is made in the same spirit as the 911 GT3 / 911 GT3 RS models.
According to rumors, the new 7ster Boxster Spyder inherits the atmospheric 4.0-liter 6-cylinder engine from its larger brother, but compared to the GT3, the engine’s power will be an order of magnitude smaller. Most likely, we are talking about more than 400 horsepower.
Our friends insiders say that the new Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder will most likely be offered with both a standard manual transmission and an optional “robot” PDK. In the case of the new performance of the coupe 718 Cayman GT4, the situation should be similar. The latter way also, as now, will receive the version of Clubsport, on which you can drive on the track.
We expect that the new 718 Boxster Spyder will be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.
