The new Peugeot 508 will receive a charged versionMarch 24, 2018
Peugeot 508 second generation, the public premiere of which took place earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show, has not yet gone on sale – the European market novelty should be released in September this year. The composition of the power scale liftback includes motors from 130 to 225 hp, but now it became known that the model will have a charged version. The director for the development of the Peugeot lineup Lauren Blanchet told L’argus that in autumn the company will present a more powerful modification – 508 GTi.
By the way, the predecessor of the charged version was not – the top version was a diesel version of the then sedan – GT with a 204-horsepower engine. It is assumed that in the engine compartment of the GTi there will be a 270-strong 4-cylinder turbo engine 1.6 THP, borrowed from the Peugeot 308 GTi. The engine with a large potential in Europe does not have a PSA, and in the Celestial there is a motor 1.8 THP, which, theoretically, can be forced more.
The PSA with the new Peugeot 508 plans to create a competition for Volkswagen Arteon, the most powerful version of which is currently equipped with a two-liter 280-horsepower TSI turbo engine, although in the “German” arsenal there is still four-wheel drive, and the “Frenchman” is available exclusively with a front-wheel drive. The situation will be corrected with the advent of a hybrid version, which will have an electric motor mounted on the rear axle.
