The new Peugeot 508 was cheaper than the Volkswagen ArteonMay 30, 2018
The French brand named the prices of a new liftback for the home market. In Europe, “live” sales of the model will start in the autumn of this year.
The debut of the Peugeot 508 of the second generation took place at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2018. The model is built on the EMP2 platform, with a change of generations 508 turned from a sedan into a liftback with frameless side doors. Production of the “five-door” will be installed at the PSA plant in Mulhouse, France, which also produces the crossover DS 7 Crossback, in Europe, sales of new items should start in September. While the price list of the new Peugeot 508 for the home market is known, price tags in other countries will be announced a little later.
In France liftback will be offered with all the engines provided for this model. The new 508 has four complete sets: Active, Allure, GT Line and GT. The cheapest versions – with a 150-horsepower diesel 1.5 BlueHDi: the price of the novelty with 6MKP varies from 32,300 to 35,100 euros. Liftback with the same engine and a new eight-speed automatic transmission costs 34 100 – 36 900 euros. The price of the new Peugeot 508 with a 160-horsepower diesel 2.0 BlueHDi and 8ACP will be 38 800 – 41 200 euros, with a two-liter 180-horsepower diesel and 8AKP – from 43,300 to 47,600 euros.
Liftback with petrol turbo four 1.6 PureTech with 180 hp. and 8KPP will cost 34,600 – 40,000 euros, and the 225-hp version of this engine is put only top-end equipment GT – this five-door liftback costs 46,000 euros.
The main competitor of the 508th – the Volkswagen Arteon – in France will cost more: a minimum of 38,250 euros for a car with a petrol engine of 1.5 TSI (150 hp) and 6MKP. Note, in the Peugeot, the new 508 is still compared to the premium Audi A5 Sportback and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe. Audi model with 150-hp 1.4 TFSI and S tronic in France costs from 39,760 euros, the price of the A4 Gran Coupe – from 40,600 euros for a car with a diesel engine 2.0 (150 hp) and manual transmission. At the same time, all listed Germans have all-wheel drive versions, whereas the Peugeot 508 only has a front-wheel drive.
In the basic configuration of the new 508 there are: six airbags, two-zone climate control, a virtual installation, a multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen, cruise control with a speed limiter, 16- or 17-inch wheels, automatic emergency braking systems and warning of leaving the occupied lane. For the top Peugeot 508 there are: all-LED optics, Nappa leather upholstery, 18-inch wheels, adaptive suspension, front seats with massage function, round-the-camera cameras, multimedia with 10-inch touchscreen, wireless charging for the smartphone, Focal audio system. For a surcharge will offer a night vision system.
By the way, since March, Europeans can order a limited version of First Edition for order. This version is based on the GT top model, features: black glossy grille, 19-inch wheels, trimmed with Alcantara, leather and wood. Peugeot 508 First Edition is offered with the most powerful versions of the engines 1.6 PureTech and 2.0 BlueHDi, the price is from 48,750 euros.
