The new Peugeot 308 hatchback will appear next yearMay 18, 2020
The French company is preparing to introduce the successor to the Peugeot 308.
According to a Caradisiac report, next fall a new five-door Peugeot 308 hatchback will appear, and at the beginning of 2022 there will be a station wagon that will follow a modern look inspired by the latest 208 and 508 models.
Like competitors such as Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, Renault Megane, Honda Civic, Hyundai i30 and others, the new product will be on the updated version of the EMP2 platform. It will use several gasoline and diesel engines, one or more soft hybrids, as well as two plug-in hybrids.
The first is supposed to combine a 1.6-liter unit with an electric motor that will drive the front wheels, and the second is considered a more sporty version that will use the same set and a second electric motor to install the rear wheels. The latter should be a competitor to the VW Golf R with a power of more than 300 horsepower and should be part of the Peugeot Sport Engineered sub-brand, which is supposed to discontinue the GTi Moniker.
We can also expect a more high-tech interior with a new digital dashboard, infotainment system and possibly improved build quality.
