The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will have front airbags for rear passengersJuly 25, 2020
The Mercedes-Benz Corporation continues to declassify details regarding the restyled S-Class. This time, the company talked about the technology that should protect rear passengers from a head-on collision.
The German company does not provide details on the system. At the same time, as can be understood from the published illustration, the airbags will be integrated into the backrests of the front seats. And in a head-on collision, the front airbags will deploy simultaneously with the side airbags. So, the passengers in the back will be maximally protected.
As noted in the corporation, the updated S-Class will be the debut car that will receive airbags in the rear to protect against frontal collisions. However, it is currently unclear how the system will adapt to child seats.
The updated model, in particular, will receive a protection system capable of taking action to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers when it detects the danger of a rear-end collision with a car that stands motionless, without human intervention.
In addition, it was recently noted that the new generation of electric crossover Mercedes-Benz was taken out for testing. Based on spy shots, the model is in the early stages of testing. The novelty will be built on the platform of the C-Class and GLC families.
