The new Mercedes-Benz GLE first caught on live photosSeptember 8, 2018
German concern Mercedes is preparing to release a new version of its own crossover GLE. The car was already seen by eyewitnesses on the tow truck without any camouflage. And by external signs – the test went to the version with the AMG package.
Soon, a new version of the Mercedes-Benz GLE will leave the road, and now we have the opportunity to look at the car almost without camouflage and with the AMG package. The photographs were published by the Russian edition of AvtoRevu from an eyewitness. At the moment the car was seen on the tow truck with front and rear headlights covered.
A new generation of crossover will completely change the design of the front and rear, although we have already written about this. Nevertheless, the model will remain fully recognizable due to its contours, typical roof racks and rear glazing. While there is no exact information, but rumors say that the crossover will be longer by about 8 cm, and its total length will be 4 930 mm.
As a basis, the modern modular platform MHA (Mercedes High Architecture) was used. As noted by experts – this platform, in fact, is a slightly redesigned MRA, tuned for crossovers. Of course, Mercedes will equip its model with air suspension, but only in sets other than the base. A car with a special Off-Road package will also be available.
So far, the company does not disclose the entire engine line, but it is already known that the Mercedes GLE will accurately receive a three-liter six-cylinder engine of a new generation, the power of which is still unknown. Coupled with it will work nine-speed automatic transmission 9G-Tronic. The “charged” modification will still be equipped with an V8 turbo engine.
The interior design also traces the modern corporate design with its features from GLE. Of course, we can see a branded instrument panel, combined with an infotainment system. And the front panel itself is made in an individual style, and is not similar to other models of the company.
While the concern does not distribute the date of the official launch of the novelty, but the debut will take place before the end of this year. On sale Mercedes-Benz GLE 2019 model year will appear only next year.
Meanwhile, at a special event in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, Mercedes-Benz representatives showed the company’s first ever electric crossover Mercedes-Benz EQC. Under the hood of the novelty there are 2 electric motors, with a total capacity of up to 408 hp. The power reserve is 450 km.
