The new Mercedes A-Class became a 306-horsepower all-wheel drive hatchSeptember 19, 2018
The company Mercedes-AMG introduced the first sports modification of the hatchback A-Class of the fourth generation, which received the A35 4Matic index. The public premiere of the novelty will be held in early October within the framework of the Paris Motor Show.
The hatch was equipped with a new two-liter four-cylinder inflatable engine, developing 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The unit works in tandem with a seven-stage robotic gearbox with two clutches and a four-wheel drive system. Weight distribution along the axes is ideal – 50:50.
The engine used an aluminum crankcase, conical-shaped cylinders, modernized twin-scroll turbochargers with reduced overpressure, a reprogrammed variable valve timing system, and an improved production.
Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic, which has the function of fast start Race Start, is able to accelerate from the place to the first 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, and its maximum speed is forcibly limited to electronics of 250 km per hour. For comparison, the nearest competitors of the novelty in the person of BMW M140i (340 hp) and Audi S3 (310 hp) gain 100 km / h in 4.8 and 5.3 seconds respectively.
The driver is available five driver modes: the new Slippery, as well as Comfort, Sport, Sport + and Individual. The first is designed for safe driving on slippery roads – electronics reduces power and torque, and also transfers the gearbox to the early switching mode.
“Charged” hatchback received a system of electromechanical steering with variable effort, front brakes with four pistons and 350-millimeter disks (one piston and 330 mm discs at the rear). Adaptive dampers with three levels of stiffness will be available for an additional fee.
As for the exterior, the hot-hatch differs from the standard A-Class with other bumpers, wider thresholds, a unique radiator grille, and aerodynamic elements, including a diffuser and a rear spoiler.
European sales of Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic will begin before the end of 2019. Later, a line of hot-hatches will be replenished with more extreme versions of the A45 and A45 S. According to preliminary data, the latter will receive a two-liter turbo four, which will work in tandem with a 38-volt on-board power grid. The total output of the units will exceed 400 horsepower.
