The next generation Mazda 6 will receive a rear-wheel drive modular platform developed by engineers from Mazda and Toyota, as well as a productive hybrid. Such information is shared by the Car and Driver portal. So, according to auto experts, the top versions of the next Mazda 6 will be equipped with an in-line six-cylinder engine with Skyactiv-X technology with compression-ignition of the combustible mixture. As assistants, he was identified with a 48-volt starter-generator and a set of high-performance batteries.
The return of such a “soft” hybrid reaches 350 horsepower.
As an option, the brand is ready to offer customers four-wheel drive. As for the new platform that the new Mazda 6 is predicted for, the same architecture is expected on the new generation Mazda CX-9 crossover, as well as on the Gran Turismo coupe.
