The new Land Rover Defender will be presented in 2020August 3, 2018
The company Land Rover confirmed the development of Defender next generation. Sales of the car will begin in 2020, the press service of the brand informs.
All information about the SUV is kept secret. According to the publication Autocar, the next Land Rover Defender will be built on aluminum architecture. The SUV will borrow many components and technical solutions from other current cars of the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) alliance. The company plans to sell about 10 thousand copies of new Defender per year.
In turn, the publication Motoring reported that customers will be available 3- and 5-door versions with an open and buried body, a luxurious modification, also a version for extreme off-road. The motor scale of the novelty should include gasoline and diesel inflatable four-cylinder two-liter units, as well as three-liter V6 engines.
In addition, the sale of electric version of the car. Such a modification of the novelty will be equipped with one electric motor and a battery. However, later a more powerful modification of an environmentally friendly SUV could be presented.
Also we should expect the version of Land Rover Defender in the back of the pickup truck. Earlier it was reported that such a car is considered by the company as a competitor of Model X. The motor scale of the car will include gasoline and diesel 2.0-liter engines of the Ingenium series. Most likely, the car will go on sale only in the version with a single cabin. The car will receive many versions, including luxury modifications. Production of the pickup will be adjusted at the plant in Slovakia.
Production of the Land Rover Defender of the current generation was discontinued in January 2016. The British manufacturer has repeatedly stated about the intention to remove the “veteran” from production: at first the issue was to be discontinued in December 2015, then the date was postponed.
