The new KIA Sorento will receive a 230-horsepower hybrid engineFebruary 18, 2020
KIA will present for the first time to the world public the new generation Sorento SUV at the Geneva Motor Show on March 3, 2020.
After the official photos of the new items were released the day before, our publication received new information about the first hybrid version of the all-new Kia Sorento in history thanks to the Korean brochure, which confirmed the technical specifications, using the 1.6 Turbo engine and an electric motor, the maximum power of which will reach 230 horsepower.
So, the new Sorento will receive hybrid and interchangeable hybrid options, which, like the future Santa Fe hybrid, will use a combination of a 1.6 Turbo engine and an electric motor with two types of batteries. Eco-friendly versions should use solar cells on the roof, which debuted on the previously introduced Sonata and K5 Hybrid sedans (Optima Hybrid).
The 4th generation Kia Sorento, depending on the market, will have a six-engine engine range. As for gasoline modifications, they will be represented by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated GDi first level engine, as well as a 2.0-liter T-GDi engine and a 2.5-liter T-GDi. As transmissions, 6- and 8-speed automatic transmissions will be used.
The diesel range will offer 2.2-liter R-engines. In South Korea, it will be a 2.5-liter Turbo and 2.2-liter diesel, while in the US market, Kia will offer a 2.5-liter NA, as well as 2.0- and 2.5-liter Turbo and 2.5. The European composition has not yet been confirmed, but, like in the current lineup, the diesel engine will remain with available hybrids and will be supplied with an 8-speed DCT for the first time.
Thus, some KIA Sorento will get the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid and will still be available in 5- and 7-seater cabin layouts. As we saw in previous series of spy photos, inside the new Sorento will receive a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and infotainment system with a 10.25-inch screen and much more.
