The new Kia Sedona will be shown at the New York Auto Show (April 2020)February 12, 2020
Korean specialized publications claim that the presentation of a completely new generation of the Kia Sedona minivan will be held in April this year at the New York Auto Show.
Last week, the first “spy” photos of the next-generation Kia Sedona minivan first appeared for the first time. I must say that the presentation of the updated version of the minivan was a surprise, since Kia showed a restyled version of the model during the 2019 model year. Now, our Korean colleagues have shared reports that the all-new Sedona may debut this past April at the New York Auto Show. The guys cite anonymous sources from the company itself.
It is noteworthy that Kia will first show the new product in the US, and then in July will hold a home presentation at home in Korea. Usually everything happens differently.
The new Kia Sedona will be built on the same platform on which the current generation Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima are based. According to the sources of the publication, the new Sedona will have a Kia Soul-style front design with horizontal LED headlights, like the Kia Seltos crossover.
It seems that the new Sedona will no longer use the 3.3-liter V6 engine. Instead, he will get a 2.5-liter turbocharged Theta III four-cylinder. This is probably the same engine that the Hyundai Sonata N-Line will receive – a power of 290 horsepower (420 Nm). This would be an improvement over the current V6, which produces 276 hp. (336 Nm). The new 2.5-liter engine is likely to be combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Kia probably expects good sales of the new Sedona, which in 2019 fell to 15 931 units, in 2018, this figure was 17 928. For this, the new generation of the minivan should get important options, such as four-wheel drive and a decent degree of comfort .
