The new Kia logo will debut in the second quarter of 2020

We learned that the Korean brand Kia is going to introduce a new logo in the second quarter of 2020.

Kia Motors is in the process of registering a new trademark in South Korea and abroad. Along with the launch of the new logo, the announcement of the development strategy for future cars, including electric vehicles, is expected. The final design of the new logo is based on the Imagine by Kia concept car icon presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019.

A patent application for new red and black logos was filed with the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS). The fields for the date of registration and publication in the document are left blank, which means that Kia has not yet received approval from the local authorities, but this is probably only a matter of time. A deeper study of the search results shows that Kia actually applied the two logos for the first time on July 19th.

If the new icon looks familiar, then there is a good reason for this. At the beginning of this year at the Geneva Motor Show, the Kia’s Imagine concept had an almost identical logo, the only difference was that it was highlighted in white.

It is too early to say whether the new logo will be used on all cars, as we have learned that Kia can only use it for its hybrids and electric vehicles. Despite this, it is nice to know that the new logo will debut soon.

The emblem that many brands use is engraved in 3D. A three-dimensional emblem is difficult to correctly implement on a car display, which is becoming larger in size. From the viewer’s point of view, it looks smaller than 2D. The 2D logo is a simple reconstruction of the faces and lines that make up a recognizable logo.
