Sales of the Byton crossover should begin in 2019.

The Chinese start-up Future Mobility (FMC) disclosed information about its new electric SUV, which will be sold under the Byton brand. The world premiere of the novelty will be held next week at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Manages the company FMC former head of the division of BMW i Karsten Breitfeld. The Chinese invited him in July 2016. For a year and a half he managed to bring the development to a serial model of an electric crossover. FMC President Daniel Kirchert said this week that their novelty will be similar in size to the Audi Q5, but will provide comfort in the saloon at the Mercedes-Benz S-Class level.

The new Byton electric crawler as standard will receive a power reserve at a full charge of 350 km of batteries. The creators also promise that the top version will have 500 kilometers, and in 10 minutes of charging it will be possible to charge a charge of 120 kilometers.

The front panel of the crossover cabin has a huge touch screen with dimensions of 1250 x 250 mm. The Byton brand plans to equip the car with equipment capable of providing autonomous driving of a 5-level, in which the driver will not participate in the management. However, this technology will be available not from the first year of launching the novelty to the market.

The start of production is scheduled for 2019. FMC is building a car assembly plant in Nanjing, China, which will be able to produce 100,000 units annually from 2019. Upon completion of the adjustment of all production lines, the capacity of the conveyor will be 300,000 electric vehicles per year. Further the manufacturer plans to let out in 2021 a sedan, and in a year – seven-seater MPV.
