Chery has prepared for the home market a new electric crossover Chery eQ5. The appearance of new items is expected in the middle of this year. The car is based on the new Chery LFS electric platform. This is an all-wheel drive modular platform, which excludes the appearance of new versions with traditional ICEs. In its dimensions, the Chery eQ5 is similar to the German Audi Q5 crossover: the length of the car reaches 4,630 mm with a wheelbase of 2,508 mm, width and height are 1,910 and 1,650 mm. The body of the electrocross is 93% made of aluminum. In the basic version, the car will receive front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive will be offered as an option.
Designers of the Pininfarina studio, with whom the Chinese brand has a long-standing partnership, had a hand in working on the appearance of Chery eQ5.
The virtual dashboard and the main display are visually combined, but there is no third screen, like on Tiggo 8. You can control the “climate” in the cabin and adjust the seats with the help of a removable module. “Smart” electronics Chery eQ5 can recognize faces and understands voice commands. The claimed level of autonomy is 2.5.
The novelty will enter the Chinese market with two power options – 163 and 177 hp, but there is only one battery. It guarantees a “range” of 510 kilometers. The presentation of the car is planned to be held at the Beijing Motor Show, which should begin its work on April 21, if the dates are not postponed due to the coronavirus. The release of new items is the Chery factory in Wuhu. According to preliminary data, the cost of Chery eQ5 will be 200-250,000 yuan.
