The new Chevrolet Corvette can accelerate to 132 km / h. Open trunkMay 8, 2020
This restriction is automatically activated if the front trunk is not tightly closed.
The maximum speed of the Chevrolet Corvette C8 supercar, which debuted almost a year ago, is automatically limited to 132 kilometers per hour. But only if the driver does not close the front trunk.
The restriction is introduced for safety: when opening at speed, the front trunk lid can completely block the windshield, depriving the driver of the review. And at speeds above the limit, this can be extremely dangerous.
At the moment of detection of a tightly closed front trunk lid, the Chevrolet Corvette electronics automatically activates the limiter at 132 kilometers per hour, simultaneously displaying a warning on the dashboard.
The mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8 debuted in the summer of 2019. The rear-wheel drive coupe is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 502 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque. The unit works with an eight-stage “robot”. To the 100 km/h of the Corvette is able to accelerate in 2.9 seconds, and its maximum speed is 312 kilometers per hour.
In late February, the Chevrolet Corvette C8 discovered another unusual feature. The supercar received a “flying” mode of the traction control system, which is able not only to determine when the supercar tires lose traction, but also to understand when the car is off the ground and is in the air.
