The BMW X2 xDrive25e arrives in Europe to present its customers a compact coupe-style crossover with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It joins the existing X1 xDrive25e with the same powertrain but a slightly smoother style. Sales in Europe will begin in July 2020.
The X2 xDrive25e has a total horsepower of 217 horsepower and 385 Newton meters of torque. For all-wheel drive, a 1.5-liter three-cylinder internal combustion engine drives the front axle, while a rear-mounted electric motor rotates the rear wheels. From zero to centurion, the coupe-shaped crossover accelerates in 6.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is 195 km / h.
The lithium-ion battery under the rear seat has a capacity of 10 kilowatt hours. This is enough for the range of power reserve on one electric traction of 57 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. To improve aerodynamics, the suspension is 10 millimeters lower than the standard version of the X2.
The plug-in hybrid X2 has a slightly different front end than other crossover options. The revised panel no longer has fog lights, giving the nose a cleaner design. LED headlights are standard. In addition, 17-inch wheels are installed.
Inside, the X2 PHEV comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control and the ability to remotely air-condition a car using a smartphone app. New tools show the status of the hybrid system, including data on current and past consumption. The rear seats fold 40:20:40. The battery slightly reduces the load capacity to 410 liters.
