The new SUV with the factory index S201 Mahindra has been testing since last year. Camouflaged prototypes more than once fell into the lenses of cameras of photo spies, but in the fresh pictures published by the GaadiWaadi edition, there is less camouflage on the car, moreover, its interior is completely unveiled.

Mahindra crossover is built on the basis of SsangYong Tivoli (Indian company owns the Korean brand). The length of the S201 SUV will not exceed four meters – such tax privileges are imposed on such vehicles in India. Data on the wheelbase news yet. Donor Tivoli length is 4202 mm, the distance between the axes – 2600 mm. By the way, the “Korean” still has a “stretched” version of the XLV (4440 mm), but such a modification in the Indian market probably will not appear.

Externally, the Mahindra cross is significantly different from the Tivoli – it has other bumpers and grille, other headlights and taillights. But the interior of the “Indian” is almost identical to the interior of the SsangYong model, the only difference is in the colors of plastic and in the absence of the S201 “fin” on the front panel. Well, still Mahindra SUV got a new steering wheel. The list of equipment of the Indian version includes a multimedia system, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, sunroof, rear-view camera.

According to preliminary data, Mahindra S201 will be offered with a 1.2 petrol turbo engine with a power of about 140 hp. and a 123-horsepower diesel engine 1.5. The latest engine got a crossover from the Mahindra Marazzo minivan, which debuted last fall. Gearboxes – manual or automatic. There is no information about whether SUV will have four-wheel drive. Cross SsangYong Tivoli is equipped with an 1.6 engine with power of 128 hp and 115-horsepower diesel engine of the same volume. The Korean brand model has all-wheel drive versions.

In India, the start of sales of new Mahindra is scheduled for early next year. Local media tipped the name Inferno (formerly XUV300) to the product crossover. Outside this country, the car most likely will not appear. By the way, more recently, Mahindra introduced another SsangYong model under its own brand – the frame SUV Rexton, which was renamed Alturas G4. At the local Rexton, the engine is the same as that of the donor, and the design has not changed much – they have limited themselves to the grille.
