The network showed how automakers cheat buyers of new carsNovember 11, 2018
Automakers, introducing their new models, show in the photos, as a rule, top-end configuration, and call the cost of the basic version. It turns out that motorists are misleading. AUTO BILD showed photos of several new models in the base and top trim levels. Even outwardly, they differ from each other.
BMW 3 Series
The cost of the new BMW 3-Series in the basic configuration 320d starts at 40,450 euros. This is a fairly simple equipment with one body color (black). Standard are 16-inch wheels. Top versions are much more expensive and look more elegant.
On the promotional photos, Ford Focus is shown in the ST-Line configuration (€ 6,500) and in the design package (€ 1,400). These versions are different from the base, whose price is 18 700 euros.
The Mercedes A-Class appears before us in advertising photos with the AMG-Line package (3,511 euros) and new LED headlights (1,488 euros). The basic equipment is painted in a bright red body color, but it doesn’t have such attractive equipment as the more expensive versions (for example, smaller wheels). Base price – from 30 232 euros.
Mercedes CLS show in photos with additional equipment. For example, with the package AMG-Line, whose cost is 2 737 euros. In this case, the CLS in the base with a black body color (this is the only body color in the basic configuration) costs from 68,127 euros.
Skoda Karoq is shown in promotional photos in a special silver body color (550 euros) and with 18-inch wheels (530 euros). Basic equipment with 17-inch wheels looks not so elegant, and the blue color is the only body color of it. The cost in the database – from 24,290 euros.
On promotional photos, the Volvo XC60 appears in front of us with top-of-the-line equipment and in white Crytal Pearl (1,250 euros). In addition, the Swedes show a version of R-Design with 21-inch wheels (1 970 euros). The basic version, which sells for 46,250 euros, looks more modest.
