The network showed an American Dodge Viper with a rear engineJune 24, 2019
Almost the legend of the American car market still inspires many designers. Abimelek Arellano, who decided to imagine what a model in the rear-engine layout (mid-engine, with an engine behind passengers), would have been no exception.
An interesting, and most importantly realistic render, of the American Dodge Viper was published on the web. The model has hardly changed since 1992, and is a sports coupe with a front-engine layout. But independent designer Abimelek Arellano decided to change the car, and showed the same image, but with the rear engine. To be more precise, the engine is located inside the wheelbase, which means it is mid-engined, but behind the passengers.
The original Dodge Viper was designed by renowned Chrysler designer Tom Gale. In fact, the model was supposed to demonstrate the classic character of American cars, but in a modern minimalist and predatory way. Under the hood was installed engine V10 – an upgraded engine from the pickup. Engineers had to replace the cast-iron block with aluminum, as well as work on the setting. As a result, the 323-kilogram unit developed up to 400 horsepower.
Abimelek Arellano decided that the old engine did not fit his new Dodge Viper, and “drew” him a big V8. And it is worth noting that the render looks interesting, especially with a glass roof covering the engine.
