The network “leaked” pictures of the updated BMW 1-Series M135i xDriveApril 15, 2019
The Bavarian BMW brand should have introduced a completely new generation of its 5-door hatchback 1-Series very soon, given the fact that a photo of the back of the new product appeared on the network.
On the photo published a couple of minutes ago, we can see a long-awaited novelty with the M135i nameplate, which tells us that we have the flagship performance of a compact hatchback.
Replacing the version of the car called the M140i (with rear-wheel drive), the new flagship of the family was captured in an unknown place, perhaps in some warehouse of one of the automaker’s dealers. Someone intends to publish the image of this car, which will compete with the Mercedes-AMG A35 and Audi S3 Sportback.
As is the case with the BMW X2 M35i crossover, the new 1-Series M135i xDrive will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a power of 302 horsepower.
BMW never said about the torque, but we will not be too surprised if this figure is 450 Nm – at least in the crossover that way. This is the most powerful four-cylinder BMW engine ever installed in a production car, and it will be connected exclusively to the 8-speed automatic transmission.
The M Sport differential, offered as standard equipment for the M135i, will be built into the Aisin transmission, and switching to the FAAR platform with front-wheel drive will allow the car to lose a few dozen kilograms. It is reported that thanks to the new platform, the car will get more space in the cabin, as well as in the trunk.
