The network has live photos of the electric Mercedes EQS in winter testsDecember 4, 2019
The prototype of the future flagship of the electric line of Mercedes is preparing for mass production. Now the company is conducting final winter trials. Unfortunately, the model is camouflaged, but some details are already surprising.
Judging by the latest photographs of the future, the Mercedes EQS looks like it came in 2019 from the near future. Moreover, the prototype does not look like any car from the existing line of the German brand. The profile has some similarities with the CLS, but more interesting with a sloping roof.
Like the Tesla Model S that it will compete with, the Mercedes EQS has a more practical suspension for everyday use. In addition, two prototypes can be seen in the photographs. One of them with ordinary door handles, and the other with retractable. The front part is carefully camouflaged, which does not allow to consider the details. The front end is highlighted by terrible lights, but this is a temporary solution used for prototypes. In the serial version, the design will be different.
According to preliminary information, the serial version will appear only in 2021. As the basis will be used the new modular platform MEA, designed specifically for electric vehicles.
Most likely, two electric motors will be installed on the Mercedes EQS as a power unit, capable of developing up to 402 horsepower and 765 Nm of torque.
Mercedes, meanwhile, began testing autonomous taxi in collaboration with Bosch. The drone fleet has about 30 cars, most of which are Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
