The network got spy photos from the tests of the updated SsangYong RextonJanuary 20, 2020
A camouflaged frame SsangYong Rexton was caught during trials in South Korea. During the next restyling, designed to revive the demand for an SUV, the model changed externally, but the manufacturer did not get to the salon this time.
The flagship SUV SsangYong Rexton will receive a new batch of updates. This is evidenced by spy photos of the future news that hit the Network the day before. The camouflaged SUV was shown on the YouTube channel of the Internet user with the nickname Yunki. Recall that SsangYong Rexton changed the generation back in 2017, in the home market, such an SUV receives the G4 prefix. At first, the SUV sold well at home, but then the demand for it somehow subsided. In order to attract new customers to the model, in 2019 the manufacturer carried out a light restyling of the model, but this did not help change the situation. Now, SsangYong has made a new attempt to revive Rexton sales.
This time, the “frame” got a redesigned grille, new head optics and other taillights. But the interior has remained the same, as well as the engine, which the brand, apparently, does not plan to change yet.
The current SsangYong Rexton for Korea is equipped with a 2.2-liter 187-horsepower turbodiesel, combined with a seven-speed automatic. The drive can be rear or full. Under the hood of export SUVs is a two-liter gasoline “turbo four”, issuing 225 horsepower. A pair of it is 6MKPP or 6-speed “automatic” from Aisin.
The public premiere and official start of sales of the restyled SsangYong Rexton in the homeland are expected in the second half of 2020.
