The most powerful Alfa Romeo Giulia is easier and fasterMarch 3, 2020
Alfa Romeo introduced special limited versions of the most powerful modification of the Giulia sedan – Quadrifoglio. Cars that received the designations GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita) and GTAm were to debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
When developing new products, Italian engineers focused on improving aerodynamic performance, driving performance, as well as reducing the weight of the car. So Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA received a number of body elements from carbon. In addition, some technical components, such as the driveshaft, are also made of carbon fiber.
The mass of the extreme version of GTAm was able to further reduce due to the rejection of the rear row of seats and door panels. This version received a roll cage, racing “buckets” and belts, as well as a special compartment for storing helmets and a fire extinguisher.
New items equipped with a modernized 2.9-liter V6 engine with two turbines, the output of which was increased from 510 to 540 horsepower. The engine is paired with a reconfigured eight-speed automatic transmission.
Both cars are capable of gaining the first 100 kph in 3.6 s, which is 0.3 s faster than the standard Giulia Quadrifoglio. The maximum speed is 305 km per hour.
Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm will be released in a limited edition of 500 copies. At the moment, almost all cars are already sold out.
Giulia Quadrifoglio held the title of fastest sedan “Northern loop” “Nurburgring” with the result of 7 minutes and 32 seconds. Last year, the achievement was beaten by Jaguar XE SV Project 8 super-sedan who drove a lap on the highway in 7 minutes and 21 seconds.
