For James Bond fans and late Sean Connery, the desire for a true version of the legendary Aston Martin DB5 007 is a dream that will soon come true – at least for those willing to spend $ 3.5 million.

Following the release of the limited edition DB4 GT that the company assembled earlier this year, Aston Martin Works is now looking to release a limited edition DB5 based on the iconic car from the James Bond films. Moreover, these machines will receive a full set of often lethal devices that 007 used to avoid various troubles and difficulties.

The new cars will in fact copy the original DB5s designed for the film, one of which participated in this year’s Villa d’Este competition in Italy. This car still featured a bulletproof screen that towers over the rear window, a smoke screen system and the ability to leave an oil slick in the path of pursuers, not to mention the famous rotating license plates. It also boasted machine guns hidden behind the front turn signals and an offset sunroof for the front passenger, although sadly none of those features actually worked.

The new replicas announced by Aston Martin will also be equipped with a full range of gadgets. They are being developed with the participation of Oscar-winning special effects Oscar-winning Chris Corbould, who has worked on Bond films since the 1980s. Mechanically, the cars will be identical to the original DB5 – under the hood will be a 4.0-liter inline-six engine breathing through triple SU carburettors. The output of such a unit is about 280 horsepower. Then it made the DB5 one of the fastest cars in the world with a top speed of about 230 km / h and a claimed acceleration time to 100 km / h in 7.1 seconds.

The first of the resurrected Aston Martin DB5s from Goldfinger will be delivered to the customer in 2020. A total of 25 cars are planned to be built, plus one car for Aston Martin, one for Eon Productions and another to be sold at a charity auction.
