At the British online auction NEC Classics Live one of the three existing sports cars Renault 5 Turbo Superproduction went on sale.

For the most extreme factory sports car Renault 5 Turbo Superproduction, it is planned to gain from 300 to 350 thousand pounds. The end of the auction is scheduled for November 14.

It is reported that this car was developed for participation in the French Championship in the “Supertourism” class. Initially, the plant produced six front-wheel drive Renault 5 Turbo, but only three of them were decided to be modified for the 1987 season.

The bodies of such cars were reinforced with a roll cage, the ground clearance was reduced, and the front and rear track was increased. The 1.4-liter engine was also improved, resulting in its power increased to 410 horsepower at 7000 rpm.

The car for sale was able to win the 1987 championship. Two other cars from this series are currently in the museum of the French brand in Paris.
