The Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series will get over 700hp.April 30, 2019
According to recently received data, the most powerful version of the German supercar Mercedes-AMG GT will receive a power plant with a capacity of more than 700 hp. This information, which has yet to be confirmed, comes from someone who claims to have personally ordered a supercar.
The official presentation of the German supercar Mercedes-AMG GT R performed by the Black Series is scheduled for 2020, but the sports company Mercedes-AMG appears to be already accepting pre-orders for the final version of the GT R. Located in the model lineup over the recently unveiled GT R Pro, Black Series prototypes are already being tested at the Nürburgring race track. Under the hood, there will be a much more powerful version of a powerful 4.0-liter V8 with two turbines.
In two models of the GT R, the engine produces 577 hp, but one of the users of the Instagram social network, who claims that the car was ordered by him in particular, says that the output power will be more than 700 hp.
That would be an increase of at least 70 hp. compared to the highest specification of the V8 engine, available today in the four-door coupe GT 63 S. After thanking Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, a social network user attached his purchase form on April 23, 2019 to prove that he actually ordered the Black Series.
Switch from 577 to more than 700 hp seems like a big jump. In the end, Mercedes engineers squeeze an impressive 416 hp. of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which is equipped with the “charged” performance of the A45 S. hatchback. The article by Motor Trend, published in late November 2018, also hints at 700+ hp. As part of his interview, Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers said that the Black Series will compete with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and McLaren 720S, which have 700 hp. and 710 hp respectively.
