The Mazda CX-3 crossover first received a 1.5 engineMay 20, 2020
The Japanese company introduced the new base version of the CX-3 to the domestic market
Mazda has begun equipping the CX-3 crossovers with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine. The new basic version allowed to reduce the starting price of the model in the domestic market by 25 percent. In addition to expanding the range of engines, Mazda changed the seats, finalized the media system and added a new metallic gray in the color palette.
The atmospheric four-cylinder 111-horsepower (144 Nm) Skyactiv-G gasoline engine 1.5 is installed on crossovers for the first time: previously only Mazda2 and Mazda3 compact hatchbacks and the MX-5 roadster were equipped with the unit. Now the line of engines Mazda CX-3 in Japan consists of a 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter (150 forces, 195 Nm) gasoline “aspirated”, as well as a 1.8-liter 116-horsepower (270 Nm) diesel.
Mazda claims that the 1.5-liter engine has reduced fuel consumption in the combined cycle to 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers for the front-wheel drive crossover CX-3. The all-wheel drive version is a little gluttonous: consumption reaches 6.36 liters per 100 kilometers. In addition, with the transition to a compact motor, the CX-3 crossover has become more affordable: the starting price has decreased by 25 percent or 600 thousand yen.
Other innovations that affected all versions of the Mazda CX-3 are modified seats, an infotainment system that acquired support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the new dark gray Polymetal Gray body color. In addition, Mazda announced that the “anniversary” version of the CX-3 100th Anniversary will be powered exclusively by the 1.5 engine.
Acceptance of orders for the modified Mazda CX-3 has already begun; deliveries of new crossovers will begin in early June. The base front-wheel drive CX-3 with a 1.5 engine was estimated at 1,892 million yen, the all-wheel drive version costs from 2,122 million yen, and the anniversary crossovers CX-3 in a rich configuration with a cherry leather interior – from 2,563 million yen
