The market for new cars in the United States declined in 2019January 27, 2020
General Motors cars sold best, and Toyota became the most popular foreign brand.
Specialists of the analytics and statistics agency Avtostat shared data on sales of new cars in the American car market in 2019. Last year, the market showed a decrease of 1.5% compared to 2018, and the number of cars sold amounted to 17,076,024 pcs. Note that for the fifth year in a row, sales are at around 17 million copies. According to focus2move portal, the products of the General Motors concern are sold best – last year such cars sold 2,887,046 units, which is 2.3% less than a year earlier. The second position is held by Ford, which showed the result of 2,406,188 cars sold (“minus” 3.2%).
“Bronze” rating receives the most popular foreign brand in the US – Toyota. Cars of this brand sold 2,383,348 pcs. – a 1.8% decline in sales.
The fourth position is occupied by the Fiat Chrysler Group with the result of 2,217,209 vehicles sold (-1.4%). The Japanese brand Honda closes TOP-5, which managed to keep sales at the level of 2018. Last year, Americans purchased 1,608,170 cars with the Skoda logo.
