The manufacturer of the gearbox ZF will teach cars to look around the cornerNovember 4, 2018
ZF is working to expand the emergency braking function. We are talking about two assistants who will help when turning in city traffic and automatically activate the braking system in case of a collision threat.
The systems will complement the list of mandatory assistants, the availability of which will require EuroNCAP from 2020. According to the manufacturer, an assistant who is able to look around the corner and stop the car in case of danger will be able to prevent the classic risks of accidents that are often encountered today.
The assistant works with the help of two radars located in the front of the car, and cameras that are connected to the brake system. When a pedestrian or other object gets into the camera’s view, and the radar confirms this, the emergency braking system will turn on.
In addition, the Germans from ZF will offer manufacturers a system of automatic collision avoidance ACA, which operates with smooth motion. It will use the same frontal radar and camera and perform an emergency stop or maneuver into another lane if there is a threat, but only if the driver does not respond. The assistant will work at speeds up to 130 km / h.
