Prodrive will restore old timers
Prodrive, a racing car company whose portfolio includes, for example, the world rally champion Impreza 555, has announced the launch of the Legends program. As part of it, the company will restore and modernize classic models with the full preservation of their authenticity.
It was the Prodrive team who built the first racing Porsche 911 and Aston Martin Vantage GT. Some of their cars won races, others received various titles and awards. With the passage of time, many teams sold their models in order to free up storage space for new ones. But the new owners treated them with great trepidation, so until today they managed to save many copies.
Now the company will provide full support for more than 700 different Subaru, almost 40 BMW E30 M3 and almost 230 Aston Martin. All work will be carried out at the headquarters of the company, which is located in the English city of Banbury.
According to Paul Howard, head of the motorsport department at Prodrive, no one can restore a better Prodrive car than the Prodrive team, who knows every car from the inside. In addition, the company retained some spare parts, and also has a license to reproduce the missing components.
The Prodrive company was founded in 1981, at its origins stood the ex-world rally champion David Richardson. As part of the Subaru Impreza rally championships, the modified ateliers won the manufacturers championship three times in a row. In 2008, Prodrive left the competition after Subaru, but returned two years later with the Mini brand.
