The Japanese have developed a Gacha autonomous bus for harsh weather conditionsNovember 11, 2018
The Japanese company Muji has teamed up with the Finnish Sensible 4 to create the first autonomous bus that can move easily in all weather conditions.
Gacha will present in March next year in Helsinki.
It is expected that the robot will be able to reach the route in three Finnish cities within a few months after the performance. The developers note that in 2021 vehicles will be in wide use.
It is worth noting that Sensible 4 has equipped Gacha with software, thanks to which the robot can move without problems in case of heavy rain, fog or snowfall. At the same time, Muji designed the vehicle itself – its exterior has a LED strip around the perimeter.
Also Gacha is equipped with a system of 4 lidars, cameras of angular view, 4G and 5G modems and, of course, GPS. The robot bus is made in the style of an unmanned bus, and its dimensions are quite compact – the length is 4.5 m, width – 2.4 m, and height – 2.8 m. It can fit 16 passengers at once, and the range of travel should be enough for 100 km.
