The Japanese drove by Prius along the route of the rally Paris-DakarMarch 27, 2018
Team ACP, founded by a group of Japanese auto enthusiasts in 1979, drove along the route of the famous rally-raid “Paris-Dakar” behind the wheel of a hybrid Toyota Prius. The total length of the route was seven thousand kilometers.
Team ACP is known for having traveled this route for 12 years. Thanks to the experience accumulated during this time in 1997, participants were given the opportunity to take the first Prius with them on the expedition.
For 10 years, they tested the reliability of hybrid components on five continents, in different weather conditions.
In the last expedition, the Prius was accompanied by Toyota Land Cruiser. One of the characteristics of the hybrid was the ability to use it as a power source. The team enjoyed this advantage during parking to warm up the food or boil the kettle.
In February this year, the Croatian team Team Tesla Powered by RWE was the first who crossed the Sahara desert in an electric vehicle. Two pilots took part in the Budapest-Bamako rally, which begins in the Hungarian capital, and ends in the capital of Mali, at the Tesla Model X.
