The interior of the new Genesis GV70 was shown in the photoSeptember 17, 2020
Fresh photos of the compact premium crossover Genesis GV70 of the South Korean company, which is still codenamed JK1, have appeared on the web.
A prototype of the new Genesis GV70 crossover was spotted in South Korea during tests. The photos show the interior of the new car, which features Alcantara seats and a carbon fiber pattern around the armrest and door panels. In addition, it should be noted that the model received 20-inch wheels and a rounded twin exhaust GV70.
If you look at the spy shot of the GV70, there is another detail that can be noted. If you look closely, you can see that there is no pentagonal muffler on the bumper. Instead, only a glossy black mesh is visible.
Thus, the crossover can be considered the main diesel model. But the image above is for the GV70 Sport, as the car has a different design. While the larger GV80 crossover aims to compete with the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Audi Q7, the smaller GV70 will compete for customers with the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.
If you look at other design elements, there is an additional brake light at the top of the tailgate. And you can see that a reflector and a direction indicator are applied to the bumper. In other words, the external design of the newest car is made in the style of the older model GV80, but with a number of features.
It has been confirmed that the engine lineup applied to the GV70 is the same as that of the G80: a 2.5-liter petrol turbo with 304 hp, a 3.5-liter petrol turbo with 380 hp. and a 2.2-liter diesel with 210 hp.
While no powertrain data is available, many Hyundai models, including the Genesis, use an 8-speed automatic transmission, so the GV70 will likely be equipped with one. Drive is rear-wheel drive, but an all-wheel drive system will be available as an option.
Now let’s take a look at the appearance characteristics. The hood and tailgate are made of aluminum to reduce body weight. The fuel tank has a capacity of 66 liters, and the battery has 80 Ah. The wheels are available in three sizes: 18 “, 19” and 21 “. Bridgestone tires are standard, Michelin tires are optional for diesel engines.
The interior has a central display measuring 14.5 inches. In addition, an integrated Genesis controller capable of handwriting recognition is expected to be provided, and it is unknown if navigation is applied in augmented reality.
The dashboard features an 8-inch screen as standard, with a 12.3-inch 3D panel available as an option. There is also Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent High Beam, Surround View, Head-Up Display, Rear Monitor, HDA2 and Lexicon Sound System.
According to Hyundai’s production plan, production of the GV70 should begin in October. For this reason, it is highly likely that it will be released in October and at the latest in November. However, due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus situation, the release schedule is likely to be revised. After launching in the domestic market, the crossover is planned to be exported to Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, the USA.
Genesis will also make an electric variant of the GV70 SUV, which will be released later.
