The interior of the Genesis GV70 will be borrowed from the GV80January 24, 2020
While the larger GV80 is targeted at the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Audi Q7, the smaller GV70 will follow the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.
The Genesis GV70, located between Tucson and Santa Fe, will get the styling of a coupe-like SUV, not the GV80’s design according to the latest spy shots taken near Nurburgring, but inside will have the same design as his older brother. Spy shots show a similar interior design and steering wheel in the form of a “rugby ball”.
We learned about the family of three SUVs thanks to spy shots that were sent out during the New Year’s announcement as vice president of Hyundai Motors Group. He said: “Genesis will accelerate foreign expansion into China and Europe and will actively expand its lineup, including the first SUV model released this year to enhance the influence of the global brand.”
As expected, the crossover motor gamut will be borrowed from the GV80, so under the hood there will be a new family of petrol engines Theta III (2.5-liter T-GDi with 304 hp) and Lambda III (3.5-liter T-GDi with power 380 h.p.). and probably a 3.0 liter Smartstream Diesel V6. All of these engines will be combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
All design similarities can be interpreted as the result of Genesis’s “Sporty Elegance” design philosophy. “If the G80 has a 50:50 ratio of elegance to dynamics, then the G70 has 70% dynamics and 30% elegance,” said Sang-Jup Lee, Genesis brand chief designer. Therefore, we expect the Genesis GV70 to follow what we saw on the G70 and it will have more sportiness.
