The interior of the future electric hatchback VW ID.3 looks very interestingJuly 11, 2019
Several images showing the interior of the upcoming VW ID.3 electric hatchback have appeared on the Internet. The presentation of the car will be held at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.
These images were taken from a video clip that was recently released by the press service of the German automaker. Here we present various screenshots of key interior details of the novelty, revealed during a short video.
We are shown a large touch screen infotainment system. Everything looks pretty familiar until you look at the steering wheel, where Volkswagen engineers have placed a small screen – which will display specific information, such as current speed, range, navigation, and radar cruise control.
From the published images it is difficult to understand where this display is physically located — attached directly to the steering column or behind the steering wheel.
To the side of this central display is a unique gear selector that allows drivers to switch between parking, neutral, reverse, drive mode and, as it seems, brake regeneration. In its design, it is somewhat similar to the gear selector, mounted in the steering column of the German city car BMW i3.
It is noteworthy that this is the second time that this video has been published – not so long ago, it appeared on the Internet, but very soon it was deleted.
Volkswagen will present the serial ID.3 electro-hatchback at the September Frankfurt Motor Show. The German novelty will be sold in various versions, including the version with a 77 kWh battery and a range of 550 km.
