The iconic Renault 5 is officially back as an electric carJanuary 14, 2021
Renault has unveiled the Renault 5 Concept, an electric reincarnation of the iconic model.
The production of the electric Renault 5 is part of the development plan of a French company called Renaulution, according to which Renault will produce seven electric cars by 2025.
Apparently, the new Renault 5 will look very much like the original model. According to Renault design director Gilles Vidal, some design elements have been redesigned for the needs of the electric car, for example, the hood air intake now hides the charging hatch, and the front fog lights now act as daytime running lights.
The prototype also features backlit logos on the front and rear, a textile roof panel and a French flag on the exterior mirrors. While there are no shots of the concept’s interior yet, Renault notes that there will be a small display on the dashboard that can project messages outside the vehicle.
At the moment, there is no information about the electric powertrain or the power reserve of the upcoming novelty. It is worth saying that the French company wants to increase the share of sales of its own electric vehicles to 30% of total sales by 2025, and there is no doubt that Renault 5 will play an important role in this achievement.
In addition, some time ago it was noted that the serial modification of the Renault Kiger will be presented in India on January 28 this year. It should be emphasized that the Indian car market will be the first for a French SUV.
