One of the most legendary cars in history, the Mercedes-Benz 300SL coupe with three gull-wing doors, has been developed for only 1400 units on the Bring a Trailer auction website.
More than a week before the end of the auction, and the rate has already reached a million Canadian dollars (759.6 thousand US dollars)
The car rolled off the assembly line in 1957. The first owner from Belgium owned it until 1981. After that, the car was in the UK for another 23 years. In 2003, the first owner bought it, and after 3 years the coupe went to Canada. In 2014 – 2016, the 2-door stayed in Britain, where it was subjected to restoration.
Mercedes-Benz 300SL is painted in silver shade. During the restoration work, it was repainted blue-gray. The body, in turn, was cleaned to metal and completely disassembled. The standard 15-inch rims have branded hubcaps in body color.
The interior was altered and repainted using the original Mercedes-Benz palette of the period. Under the tidy is a Becker Mexico radio, an option for the 300SL, priced at $ 264. As for the car’s mileage, it is 91,000 km.
The original 3.0-liter “six” M198 with mechanical injection from Bosch produced, being new, 215 hp. She underwent the repair procedure, and at present her characteristics are close to the factory ones. Checkpoint – 4-speed manual transmission.
The Mercedes-Benz 300SL underwent a full MOT before the sale. An album with a description and a photo of the restoration process 5 years ago is attached to the car.
