Tests of hybrid coupe Polestar 1 are conducted at the Volvo Hällered Proving Ground site
The company Polestar, formerly part of Volvo, and now an independent automaker, continues to test the pre-production prototypes of its first model, the hybrid coupe with index 1. The tests are carried out at the Hällered Proving Ground, where cars disperse on wet asphalt to 220 kilometers per hour.
The new phase of the hybrid test, which the company calls the difficult term Electric Performance Hybrid GT, is designed to evaluate driving performance. At this stage, engineers conduct final steering tuning and calibration of the thrust vector control software. Now prototypes of the Polestar 1 coupe ride along the tracks of the Volvo Hällered Proving Ground test center.
The next step on the way to mass production will be the assembly of the final series of prototypes, followed by the cars soon in the product specification. They will be produced at the plant brand in Chinese Chengdu. Sales of the hybrid coupe will begin in the second half of 2019. The starting price is 155 thousand euros.
The Polestar 1 coupe was introduced in the fall of 2017. At the heart of coupe lies Volvo’s platform SPA with carbon fiber body panels. The power plant is a hybrid with two electric motors on the rear axle and a two-liter “four” equipped with a turbocharger and a compressor in the front. Total returns – 600 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque.
Meanwhile, the Polestar 1 carbon crash test was published on the Internet. The super coupe with index 1 is the first production car of the Polestar brand. His body is completely made of carbon fiber.
