The German concern VW Group is suffering losses due to WLTP

The new standard for measuring fuel consumption (WLTP), which began its operation in September of this year, was not liked by all car manufacturers. It is because of these more stringent standards that are in force in Europe that we had to stop selling the British Jaguar XJR575, the German Audi RS3 and Volkswagen Golf GTI, the Spanish SEAT Leon Cupra, the French Peugeot 308 GTI and many other “charged” versions of conventional cars.

According to official data, the German car concern Volkswagen Group was faced with a serious decline in sales last month precisely because of the environmental standards of the WLTP.

Representatives of the concern speak about this situation as quite expected. It is reported that by the end of September of this year, total sales amounted to 827,700 vehicles (a drop of 18.1%). Well, in Western Europe things are even worse – the decline in sales is 41.5%.

“After the summer months of this year that were quite successful for us, we certainly expected a fall in total sales in September – the reason is the incomplete compliance of our cars with the current WLTP environmental standards. Probably, the fall will be observed in October. We expect that November and December will be more successful months.
