Despite the decline in sales, the July result was the best in 2020. Note that the inhabitants of Germany, along with the Japanese, continue to be the most loyal to the local auto industry.
Experts of the agency of analytics and statistics spoke about the sales of new cars in Germany in July 2020. Last month, 314,938 new cars were sold in Germany, which is 5.4% less than in July 2019. Such data suggests that the German automotive industry has recovered from the effects of the coronavirus.
The most popular brand was the local Volkswagen, whose dealers were able to sell 59,714 new cars (-3.3%). Then there were three more representatives of the German car industry. The second place is occupied by Mercedes-Benz with a result of 34 393 units. (+ 10.7%). “Bronze” of the rating goes to the premium BMW brand with 28,272 units. Note that the Bavarian concern showed the best dynamics among the leaders – plus 17.4%.
Audi is in fourth position with 22,865 sold cars and a decline in demand by 20.8%.
And the TOP-5 is supplemented by the Czech brand Skoda (22,084 units, + 8.3%). Note that in the period from the beginning of January to the end of July, German residents bought 1,525,560 new cars, which is 30.1% less than last year’s result for the same period.
Earlier it became known that in July, the UK car market for the first time in 2020 showed sales growth. The main reason was the full resumption of the activities of car dealerships in the country.
