The flagship sedan Opel Insight received a new engine from the PSA

In the near future, the entire model range of Opel is waiting for the transition to a new platform. But the flagship new sedan Insight came out only last year, and its update is not expected soon, but the concern PSA has decided to add a new fuel-efficient engine.

Recall that the company Opel has again changed its owners, and is now part of the French concern Peugeot Citroen Automotive. And the French decided to turn the company into a profitable enterprise, and to restore confidence in the brand will have to distance itself from the previous model line. Therefore, soon all models will be transferred to modern platforms from the PSA Group.

But the flagship sedan Opel Insight appeared recently, and its updating is not planned yet. Nevertheless, the company decided to add a new engine. Now the car will be equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine with direct fuel injection, as well as a particle particulate filter. This allows the new car to meet the strictest environmental requirements of Euro 6d-TEMP, which will enter into force in the EU in September 2019.

According to the press service of the company, the new turbo engine is capable of developing up to 200 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. According to preliminary information (officially, the engine model is not reported) under the hood will be installed unit SIDI Ecotec series with the index A16ШТ

Couple with the engine will be offered as an automatic, and a mechanical gearbox for six steps. The claimed fuel consumption will be about 8.5 liters in city mode for the modification of the Insignia Sports Tourer. On the country road the car will use about 5.5 liters. Also this motor will be available in the modifications of Grand Sport and Country Tourer.

Of course, the concern could not do without updating the power unit, so Opel Insight will also receive a new multimedia system with an eight-inch screen. In the home market, a car with a new engine and “mechanics” will cost from 35,200 euros
