At the Geneva Motor Show in March this year, Citroen introduced a new generation of the Berlingo minivan. In general, the model has turned out so successful that for 22 years it has been globally updated only three times. Our foreign colleagues conducted the first test-drives of the novelty, during which they packed their impressions about this car. We publish short extracts of their opinions in a digest format.
Inside the minivan it seems much more spacious than outside. With folded seats on the second and third row, it is quite possible to put a three-meter wooden beam into the cabin, the loading height is low. In front, even a person with a high and dense complex sits in comfort. In the seven-seat modification there is a smaller space, but there is still room in the trunk for a certain number of packages.
On the road Berlingo behaves brilliantly: he rides softly and quietly, confidently hiding from the passengers the defects of the road surface. The steering is predictable, and the minivan is very easy to steer, especially during parking. But at the speed there is a lack of “turning”, although the turns of the minivan pass, surprisingly, practically without heels, despite the high center of gravity.
The turbocharged Puretech three-cylinder petrol engine with a capacity of 1.2 liters with a return of 109 forces works perfectly, and it has traction even at low revs, although it works very confidently at 3000-4000 rpm. But to surprise the power, he certainly can not, and twist it above 5500 turns there is no sense.
Turbo diesel with a volume of 1.5 liters with a return of 128 forces is felt strong and well insulated from the interior, but it gives less impressions.
The new Berlingo is being managed as a good family car, in which you can really relax. Steering can be attributed to the merits of this car.
A three-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1.2 liters, together with a six-speed manual transmission form a good tandem, but a pair of turbodiesel-eight-speed automatic transmission is the best option.
In general, the reviewers state that despite the notable improvements, spacious interior and modern filling of the new Berlingo, its commercial roots are still felt. But abstracting from this is a great family car.
